The Interpol's Red Corner Notice, issued at the request of a member country, is a request to locate and provisionally arrest an individual pending extradition. It is not an international arrest warrant and each member country decides for itself what legal value to give the notice within their borders. Interpol cannot compel any member country to arrest an individual.
भारत का सबसे मोस्ट वांटेड भगोड़ा नीरव मोदी यूनाइटेड किंगडम (ब्रिटेन) में ही मौजूद है. सीबीआई ने इस बात की पुष्टि की है. इंटरपोल ने भारतीय अधिकारियों को गुरुवार 16 अगस्त को मोदी के ठिकाने के बारे में सूचित किया है. सूत्रों ने यह भी पुष्टि की है कि ब्रिटेन के अधिकारियों ने मोदी के यूके के पते, शहर की जानकारी को साझा नहीं किया है. इसलिए नीरव मोदी को अब तक गिरफ्तार नहीं किया गया है. 2 जुलाई को इंटरपोल द्वारा मोदी के खिलाफ एक रेड कॉर्नर नोटिस (आरसीएन) जारी किया गया था. मोदी के खिलाफ एक वैध राष्ट्रीय गिरफ्तारी वारंट जारी किया गया है. इंटरपोल किसी भी सदस्य देश को किसी व्यक्ति को गिरफ्तार करने के लिए मजबूर नहीं कर सकता जिसके खिलाफ आरसीएन जारी किया गया हो.
Nirav Modi, the billionaire jeweller at the heart of a more than ₹13,578-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case in India, has fled to the UK, where he is claiming political asylum, the Financial Times reported on Sunday, citing Indian and British officials. Britain's Home Office said it does not provide information on individual cases. Nirav Modi could not be contacted by Reuters for comment on the FT report.
Nirav Modi used PNB loans to invest as foreign direct investment in his own flagship firm Firestar International, the ED alleged. Nirav's six dummy companies in Dubai, which borrowed from PNB, allegedly diverted $50 million to Lili Mountain Investments, where his sister Purvi Mehta was a director. Lili Mountain allegedly routed these funds through two companies to invest in Firestar.
The ED has filed a prosecution complaint against Nirav Modi and a non-bailable warrant has also been issued against him. The agency had sent a request for an RCN against Modi, but the Interpol is yet to issue this.

The international organisation also named Nirav's brother and a co-accused in the scam, Nishal Modi in its notice. Both of them are wanted in the ₹13,000 crore PNB scam.
A London court had issued the arrest warrant against Modi, the main accused in the PNB scam case, in response to an Enforcement Directorate (ED) request for his extradition in a money laundering case.

Nirav Modi's Bungalow In Maharashtra's Alibaug Demolished With Explosives A sprawling sea-facing bungalow in Maharashtra's Alibaug, estimated to cost over Rs. 100 crore, of fugitive billionaire Nirav Modi was demolished with a huge quantity of explosives today, news agency PTI reported quoting officials. The 33,000 square foot luxurious bungalow is illegally build, violated coastal regulation zone (CRZ) norms and the state's regulations as well, say authorities. However, the foundation of the structure was so strong that the authorities had struggled to bring it down using heavy machinery, which would have taken months. To speed up the process, they decided to demolish the building through a controlled explosion, using dynamite. Raigad district collector Vijay Suryawanshi said the demolition was successful. Excavators were used to drill into the thick concrete pillars of the bungalow to make space for fixing the detonators. A technical team was then called in to install the explosives.
